About Variable Unit

Variable Unit's line up for Scout is the core behind Mayhemystics OutBreaks, VU: Handbook for the Apocalypse.

All of the artists within VU have independent recognition. D.U.S.T. has several compositions featured on Zion I's new album and tours regularly with the group. DJ Quest, a well-known pioneer of the turntable, released several recordings with The Bulletproof Space Travelers, Live Human and on his own. Jacob Elijah Aginsky recorded with Blackalicious, and plays with Vivindo De Pao and Mingus Amungus, among others.

Matt Montgomery co-authored VU "The Promise" (VU Seven Grain #4 CMJ), VU Handbook for the Apocalypse (CMJ #7), and "Rebel Music" from Mayhemystics (spun on the BBC and NPR and #4 CMJ), and also plays locally with the Calvin Keys Trio. Thomas McCree plays on VU's Handbook for the Apocalypse and Mayhemystics, and tours constantly in musical forms as diverse as gospel, reggae and hip hop.

Scout is Gregory Howe's seventh production for VU and his eleventh production for Wide Hive Records. He co-produced DJ Zeph I (CMJ #1) and Phil Ranelin's Inspiration, and is the primary artist behind dissent.
